We recently upgraded a church’s livestream setup to improve their online worship experience. The previous system was complex, outdated, and delivered low-quality video and distorted audio, making it difficult for online viewers to fully engage. By modernizing and simplifying the system, we delivered a solution that’s both efficient and effective.
Clearer Video with NDI & PTZ Cameras
The church’s old analog PTZ cameras, limited by outdated technology and analog cables, produced low-resolution, blurry video that appeared unprofessional online. We replaced them with two modern PTZ cameras using NDI to transmit high-quality video over the church’s existing network. By repurposing the existing ethernet cables, we minimized installation costs and complexity. The new cameras’ remote control capability allows a single operator to smoothly switch between wide-angle and close-up shots, creating a more polished and immersive online experience.
One Device for Switching and Encoding
Previously, the church used a separate analog switcher and a computer for livestream encoding, positioned at opposite ends of the booth, resulting in an inefficient and cumbersome workflow. We replaced this setup with a Mac Mini running Ecamm Live, combining switching, encoding, and streaming into a single device. This upgrade improved system performance and significantly simplified operation, making it easier for volunteers to manage.
Seamless Graphics and Audio Integration
To further enhance the online experience, we integrated their EasyWorship computer into the network using a secondary NDI output. This enabled the church to seamlessly share lyrics, sermon slides, and video content with both the congregation and the livestream, ensuring online viewers receive the same engaging visuals. We also addressed audio challenges by correcting gain levels, creating a dedicated mix for the livestream, and adding a dedicated audio interface, resulting in balanced and clear sound for online attendees.
Improved Workflow for Volunteers
By consolidating the switcher and encoder into one device and simplifying the setup, the system is now more intuitive for volunteers to operate. This ensures a consistent and professional online experience, even with limited technical expertise.
A Better Online Worship Experience
With sharper video, better audio quality, and engaging visuals, the church’s online viewers now feel more connected to the service. The streamlined setup also allows the church to focus on creating meaningful worship moments rather than troubleshooting technical issues.
If your church is looking to improve its online worship experience, this type of upgrade can help engage and inspire your congregation no matter where they are. Reach out to explore how we can help!
